hak - Privacy Policy

Overview

hak is an offline flashcard app for learning Japanese, Korean, and Chinese vocabulary. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used.

Data Collection

hak does not collect, store, or share any personal data. The app does not require an account or login, and it has no analytics, advertising, or tracking.

Local Storage

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

• Flashcard progress and review history
• App preferences (enabled languages, theme, TTS settings)

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it using the app's backup feature.

On-Device Features

The following features run entirely on your device and do not send any data to our servers:

• Handwriting recognition: Powered by Google ML Kit Digital Ink Recognition. Language models are downloaded once from Google on first use; after that, all recognition happens on-device.
• Text-to-speech: Uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. Voice synthesis may be handled by your operating system (Apple, Google, etc.) according to that vendor's own privacy policy.

Network Requests

hak is designed to work completely offline. The only network activity is the one-time download of handwriting recognition models from Google when you first enable that feature.

Third-Party Services

The app does not include any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Backup and Restore

The app includes a backup feature that lets you export your progress to a file you choose, and restore it later. Backup files are written to and read from locations you select — they are never uploaded anywhere by the app.

Children's Privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any data from children or any other users.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page.
